Terms and Conditions of Hire

This document outlines the agreement between you (the “Hirer”) and Essedum (Essedum Van Hire, the “Company”) for the rental of a vehicle. By booking a vehicle with us, you agree to these terms.

1. Booking and Payment 1.1. Bookings are made via our online booking system and are subject to vehicle availability. 1.2. A booking is confirmed only upon successful payment and receipt of a confirmation email from the Company. 1.3. The full rental cost is payable at the time of booking. 1.4. All prices are quoted in GBP (£) and include VAT where applicable.

2. Driver Requirements 2.1. All drivers must be between the ages of 25 and 75. 2.2. Drivers must have held a full, valid UK driving licence for a minimum of 2 years. 2.3. The driving licence must be presented at the time of collection. We require a DVLA licence check code to verify your licence details. 2.4. Drivers must not have more than 6 penalty points on their licence. Certain endorsements may not be accepted, and we reserve the right to refuse hire.

3. Collection and Return 3.1. The vehicle must be collected and returned to our specified location at Hampton Cl, Hemel Hempstead HP2 7LG, UK. 3.2. Collection times are as follows: Weekday collections (Monday to Friday) are from 7:00 am to 11:00 am. Weekend collections (Saturday and Sunday) are from 7:00 am to 10:30 am. The Hirer must adhere to the scheduled collection time. 3.3. The vehicle will be supplied with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank. Refuelling charges will apply if the vehicle is returned with less fuel. 3.4. The vehicle must be returned in the same clean condition as it was supplied. A cleaning fee may be charged if the vehicle is returned excessively dirty. 3.5. Late returns will be charged at a full day’s rental rate for each day or part thereof.

4. Use of the Vehicle 4.1. The vehicle must not be used for any illegal purpose, for racing, or for hire or reward. 4.2. The vehicle must not be taken outside of the mainland UK without prior written consent from the Company. 4.3. The Hirer is responsible for all fines, penalties, and charges incurred during the rental period, including but not to parking fines, congestion charges, and speeding penalties.

5. Insurance and Liability 5.1. The rental price includes comprehensive insurance for the named driver(s). 5.2. The insurance is subject to an excess of [e.g., £1,000]. In the event of any damage to the vehicle or a third party, the Hirer will be liable for this excess amount. 5.3. The Hirer is responsible for any damage to the interior of the vehicle, tyres, and any damage caused by negligence or misuse of the vehicle, which may not be covered by the insurance.

6. Breakdowns and Accidents 6.1. In the event of a breakdown, the Hirer must contact the dedicated breakdown service number provided at the time of hire. 6.2. In the event of an accident, the Hirer must not admit liability, must obtain the details of all other parties involved, and must report the incident to the Company immediately.

7. Cancellation Policy 7.1. Cancellations made more than [e.g., 14 days] before the start of the rental period will receive a full refund. 7.2. Cancellations made between [e.g., 7 and 14 days] before the start of the rental period will be subject to a cancellation fee of [e.g., 50%] of the total rental cost. 7.3. Cancellations made less than [e.g., 7 days] before the start of the rental period are non-refundable.

8. Governing Law 8.1. This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the parties agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
